Part 1 The Peruvian Shaman appears in full dress speaking Spainish. The lighting is low with soft fires. The group is sitting silently. The ambiance feels surreal. I signed up and paid for an initiation into the ancient Ayahuasca Tea Ceremony. Ayahuasca is a vine that grows throughout Mesoamerica, mostly in the tropical rain forests. When prepared and drank under specific circumstances by the shaman, insights and visions are granted to the participant. We are gathered in an old farm house just outside Oaxaca City, Mexico. The men and women are here from several different countries such as Canada, Mexico, United States, France and Germany. Like me, they are seeking inner guidance, insights, truth and a breakthrough or release that they cannot reach through their own devices. Beforehand we are told to set an intention for the experience. A tea is brewed from the Ayahausca Plant by the medicine man. He chants and prays before and during this ceremony.
